The mechanical aspects of the 911 Turbo are second to none. The cylinder bore was expanded and the compression ratio was reduced to 6.5:1. The crankcase was made of a sturdy aluminum alloy while the pistons were forged aluminum. These attributes enabled the 3.0-liter turbocharged flat-six engine to produce a powerful 260-hp. With its four-speed manual gearbox; it is said that the top speed was in excess of 155-mph.
All that built-up, high speed energy needs the proper equipment to be able to slow down and stop in a predictable manner as well. This is no problem with its ventilated disc brakes at all four corners of the vehicle. The sturdy suspension is equipped with gas-pressured shock absorbers. Other amenities include air conditioning, rear window wiper, and electronic windows.
